Rent Setting 2024/25

What's happening?

Last year, after talking to tenants, the Bield Board agreed to increase rents by 7%.  This reflected rising operational costs, benchmarked against the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures the average change in prices paid for goods and services.  Despite a CPI rate of 10.1% in September 2022, we kept the increase below inflation levels, as you told us that the cost-of-living crisis was having a big impact on you.

In September 2023, the CPI rate was 6.7%.  The Board has approved this increase for 2024/25.

Changes for next year:

Staffing costs

  • Depending on your location, staffing costs might differ, but we propose an 8% increase.

Communal energy costs

  • We propose a freeze on this charge.

Meal costs

  • We propose a 6.7% increase for those on a contract and a 10% increase for those who buy meals on an ad-hoc basis.

Domestic (individual) heating and energy costs

  • We propose reducing the cost of domestic energy by 30%.
