Bield win at the 2023 ITEC Awards!

Bield's innovative 'Inspire Phase 2' project was the winner of the Transformation Award at the recent ITEC Awards in Birmingham.

The award ceremony formed part of the industry-leading ITEC (International Technology Enabled Care) Conference which took place from 27th-28th March.

Run by the TEC Services Association (TSA), the ITEC Conference is dedicated to helping social care, housing, health and TEC professionals deliver proactive, preventative digital services.  Attendees often hear about the potential of technology to personalise support, empowering people and families to achieve their aspirations and control their own lives.

The ITEC Awards celebrate innovation within the sector and the positive impact Technology Enabled Care has on the lives of millions of people in the UK.  The Transformation Award honours services that have planned and implemented major transformation with a proactive and preventative approach.

Our winning 'Inspire Phase 2' project involved an intensive proactive telecare trial by our digitial alarm monitoring team, Bield Response 24 (BR24), which revealed astonishing results about the impact of proactive intervention for older adults.

By utilising proactive telecare, the team were able to maintain or improve the health and wellbeing of 45 participants and anticipated and prevented crises from occurring.  The project revealed a 75% decrease in ambulance calls and a 68% reduction in A&E visits as a direct result of early intervention and preventative support methods.  Proactive telecare played a vital role in empowering the participants, ensuring they had the correct support in place to live the life they wanted, without constraints or a heavy dependence on social work or public services.

Gary Baillie, BR24 Service Manager, said: "This award recognises the beginning of a shift in service design as well as an exciting future for Bield and the BR24 service.  It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team who have been involved - their commitment to this project has been truly inspiring and this recognition is well deserved.

"Winning the ITEC Transformation Award is just the beginning - it will inspire us to continue innovating and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in order to make a real difference to the lives of our tenants and other customers."
