Bield Response 24, known as BR24, is Bield's dedicated digital alarm monitoring service. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, providing professional support when people need reassurance, practical assistance or help in an emergency,

BR24 is part of Bield’s wider commitment to independent living. At Bield, independent living means supporting people to live safely and well in the home of their choice, with the right mix of housing, technology and community support. It is not about people being on their own, it is about enabling control, dignity, safety and confidence.

Through technology enabled care, BR24 helps people remain connected to support while continuing to live independently at home. Our service combines reliable digital systems, trained operators and a caring, person-centred response.

Who we are

BR24 is more than an alarm monitoring centre. We are an experienced, accredited and trusted technology enabled care service supporting people across Scotland.

We work with Bield tenants and more than 40 external partners, including housing providers, local authorities and Health and Social Care Partnerships. Through these partnerships, BR24 provides telecare services to more than 25,000 citizens and emergency out of hours repairs support to more than 55,000 citizens.

Our role is simple but vital. We listen, assess the situation and connect people to the right support as quickly as possible.

Part of Scotland’s National Shared ARC

BR24 is proud to be part of Scotland’s National Shared Alarm Receiving Centre, known as the Shared ARC. This national digital platform is modernising telecare across Scotland by utilising resilient, cloud based and future ready technology.

The Shared ARC is a national programme led by the Digital Office for Scottish Local Government, with support from Scotland Excel and the Scottish Government. The platform is delivered through Chubb Cloud Care Control, powered by Skyresponse, and has been designed to support telecare providers across Scotland with a secure, scalable and interoperable alarm monitoring solution.

For BR24, being part of the Shared ARC strengthens our ability to deliver safe, responsive and modern technology enabled care. It supports improved resilience, improved system integration, stronger data and reporting capability, and greater opportunities to work collaboratively with partners across housing, health and social care.

This is a positive step forward for BR24, Bield and the people we support. It means we are not only delivering a trusted service today, but actively helping shape the future of digital telecare in Scotland.

How BR24 works

Customers can access support through their alarm system. This usually includes a discreet pendant, worn on the wrist or around the neck, and a small unit fitted within the home.

When the alarm is activated, the customer is connected directly to one of our trained BR24 operators. The operator can access relevant information to understand who the customer is, what support may be needed and who should be contacted.

Depending on the situation, we can:

  • Provide advice and reassurance over the phone
  • Contact a family member, friend, carer or responder
  • Escalate to emergency services where required
  • Support partner procedures for telecare and out of hours repairs
  • Help ensure people receive the right support at the right time

Supporting independent living

BR24 supports Bield’s vision for ageing well at home. Technology enabled care plays an important role in helping people feel safer, more confident and more connected.

Our service supports independent living by:

  • Helping people remain safe in their own homes
  • Providing reassurance to customers, families and carers
  • Supporting early action before situations escalate
  • Strengthening links between housing, health and social care partners
  • Enabling people to maintain dignity, choice and control
  • Using technology to support human connection, not replace it

BR24 forms part of Bield’s wider approach to independent living, where homes, services, technology and communities work together to help people live well.

Technology enabled care and TSA accreditation

BR24 is accredited through the TEC Services Association Quality Standards Framework, which supports recognised standards across technology enabled care services.

This accreditation reflects our commitment to quality, safety, good governance, partnership working, information governance, workforce development and continuous improvement.

For customers, families, carers and partners, this provides added confidence that BR24 operates to recognised standards within the technology enabled care sector.
