Some stories are about finding somewhere safe to call home. Others are about independence, community, friendship or overcoming challenges. Many are about the everyday moments that make a house feel like home.
Whatever your experience, your story has the power to make a difference.
Beyond the Door is a new storytelling project that celebrates the experiences of people living in Bield communities. Through a series of short films and conversations, we’re creating space for tenants to share their experiences in their own words.
Because the people who understand our services best are the people who live in them every day.
Why your story matters
Your experiences can help us understand what life is like for the people who call Bield home.
By listening to tenants, we can celebrate what’s working well, better understand where people experience barriers and make informed decisions about how services continue to develop.
Most importantly, your story could help make things better for future tenants.
Every experience is valuable
There is no such thing as an ordinary story.
Whether you’ve lived with Bield for six months or twenty years, whether your journey has been straightforward or more challenging, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re particularly keen to hear from people whose voices aren’t always heard or who have experienced barriers because of disability, ethnicity, language, age, sex, gender identify, sexual orientation, religion or belief, caring responsibilities or other personal circumstances.
You don’t need to do prepare anything.
Just come as you are and tell us about your experiences.
What might you talk about?
Every conversation will be different.
You might want to share
- what brought you to Bield
- what home means to you
- moments when you felt welcomed and supported
- challenges you’ve experienced
- barriers you’ve faced
- ideas that could make things better for others.
There are not right or wrong answers.
Taking part
Taking part is designed to be straightforward and relaxed.
We’ll arrange a conversation at a time and place that suits you.
You decide:
- how much you’d like to share
- whether your name is used
- whether you’re happy to appear in one of our short films or would prefer another way to contribute
- whether you want to stop taking part at any point.
If you need additional support, we’ll do everything we can to make taking part accessible.
This could include:
- translation or interpreting support
- accessible communication formats
- arranging a convenient venue or online conversation
What happens next
With your agreement, your story may become part of our Beyond the Door series of short films and other communications.
We’ll always discuss this with you beforehand, and nothing will be shared without your permission.
The stories we collect will help us better understand tenants’ experiences and shape future improvements across Bield.
