When we ask tenants what they think, we want that feedback to make a difference.
In July 2026 members of Bield’s Tenant Insight Network (TIN) reviewed information explaining changes to our Scottish Secure Tenancy Agreement.
The overall response was positive — but TIN also showed us where the information could be clearer.
In particular, some wanted more explanation about how the legal changes apply, what some of the indivdiual changes mean, and whether existing tenants need to do antying.
So we changed it.
What did TIN tell us?
One message was already working particulalry well: existing tenants did not need to sign a new agreement.
However, some of the more detailed legal information was less clear.
TIN feedback showed that we could improve how we explained:
- how changes in the law affect the agreement
- what some of the individual changes mean
- what happens if the law and the tenancy agreement differ
- whether tenants need to take any action.

What changed because of your feedback?
We reviewed the poster and made specific changes before using it more widely.
We:
- made the “nothing to sign” message even clearer
- explained more clearly why the tenancy agreement is being updated
- added a clearer statement that if the law and tenancy agreement say different things, the law takes priority
- strengthened the information about the main changes; and
- introduced a new “What do I need to do?” section
- made it clearer where tenants can go if they want more information or an explanation of the changes
The revised information is now being used to communicate the tenancy changes more widely.
Your feedback changed the final version
This might seem like a small change, but it is an important one.
People should be able to understand their rights, know whether they need to take action and feel confident in the information they receive from Bield.
TIN gives us the opportunity to test information with the people it is actually written for before we assume we have got it right.
And on this occasion, tenants helped us make it better.
